Through visual art, video, and music, Wyatt Bertz explores the omnipresent power of consumer culture, and the way it has defined our outer and inner landscapes. Mining his own desire, including a childhood obsession with cars, his digital animations feature warped interpretations of familiar brands and urban/suburban scenes. His physical work, ranging from 6’ sculpture to small kids’ toys, deconstructs and reimagines the built world, and with a focus on interaction, invites everyone to create new experiences with it. Ultimately, Wyatt seeks to create a sustainable future as colorful and alluring as the beloved brands of the past.
A self-taught artist, Wyatt taught himself Blendr and xyz software (make it seem impressive) while in the back of a van bouncing from city on tour as a professional drummer, or on the subway between real estate showings, his first professional job.
Wyatt hopes to share his inspiration, making art that is vibrant and accessible. His work as an educator at places like [xyz name of place] also demonstrates that commitment.
